Nepal

Nepal is a land of unparalleled scenic beauty and one of the most diverse geographical regions on earth. It contains an incredible variety of terrain in a relatively small area, ranging from the tropical lowlands of the “Terai” at about 300 ft above sea level to the summit of Mt. Everest at 29,035 ft (8850m)! What adds an even more interesting dimension to Nepal is the fact that its friendly people are from over 35 different tribal groups!

Witness the amazing journey to Everest Base Camp!

High in the heart of the eastern Himalaya, seven valleys radiate from Mt Makalu, the world's fifth highest peak. This trek follows the Barun Valley which contains some of the last remaining areas of pristine forests and alpine meadows in Nepal. From the bottom of the Arun Valley, near the start of the trek, the mountains rise from just 435m (1,430ft) above sea level to the lofty snow capped peak of Makalu at 8463m (27,760ft) within a distance of only 40km. The trek therefore passes through a wide diversity of ecosystems and cultures.

  • Right from my first inquiry I was impressed with the professional and helpful way my many pre-trip questions were handled· the trek itself went way beyond my expectations· it was well-organized, the food was excellent, the trek support staff were excellent, and our trek leader Chris, given the weather problems we encountered, was truly remarkable.

    Kate Mitchell, Kitchener, ON
